Classroom Design
Each classroom in The Preschool at Forty Carrots Family Center is specially designed to help children thrive and reach certain goals. Forty Carrots' teachers use their training and knowledge to create developmentally appropriate, fun activities that achieve academic and social goals. Here are some examples.
Language and Communication Skills
Forty Carrots teachers provide a language rich environment. Children are exposed daily to written and spoken word, and are encouraged to write on a daily basis. Incorporating the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum in every classroom with writing experiences helps to ensure that children are prepared for Kindergarten and beyond. The cirriuculum is fun for kids, entertaining and educationally sound.

Mathematics Skills
At Forty Carrots, teachers naturally bring math into the classroom. What may look like a fun water table for kids to play in turns into an opportunity to explore math when teachers introduce a variety of measuring devices. Through creating hands on projects, such as cooking or graphing taste test results, children are learning to connect mathematical terms and concepts to concrete, daily activities.

Social - Emotional Development
With considerable practice and support from Forty Carrots teachers, social-skills emerge and brief interactions with other children begin to take place. Teachers model, facilitate, and encourage children to have positive social interactions. Sharing, communicating, cooperating and caring unfold as teachers assist children in creating friendships in the classroom community.
Building blocks together helps develop cooperation and negotiation skills.
Science Exploration
Preschoolers are naturals when it comes to scientific thinking. Forty Carrots Teachers create an environment that facilitates scientific exploration. Teachers stimulate cognitive development through appropriate classroom projects and tools that challenge the mind and spark curiosity. Classrooms are filled with scientific tools - magnifiers, lenses, eyedroppers to bring science to life.
