Forty Carrots Family Center is proud to present Mind in the Making:  The Seven Essential Life Skills Every Child Needs - featuring Ellen Galinsky, President and Co-Founder of Families & Work Institute (FWI).  Ms. Galinsky helped establish the field of work and famliy life while at Bank Street College of Education, where she was on the faculty for twenty-five years.  Her more than forty-five books and reports include the highly acclaimed Mind in the Making: The Seven Essential Life Skills Every Child Needs, Ask The Children and the now classic The Six Stages of Parenthood.  She has published over 125 articles in academic journals, books and magazines.

Join Ellen Galinsky in a game-changing, interactive session about the skills adults and children need in order to succeed in the 21st century.

For almost a decade, Galinsky worked with top researchers from across the country, filing their experiments and studying their results how we learn best.  In her recently released highly acclaimed book, MIND IN THE MAKING (Harper Collins 2010), she identifies seven life skills that are essential to success - in school, the workforce and in life: Focus and Self Control | Perspective Taking | Communicating | Making Connections | Critical Thinking | Taking on Challenges | Self-Directed Engaged Learning

Mind in the Making has reached an audience of more than 512 million people since its publication in April of 2010.  It has been listed as the number one parenting book on Amazon.com, and continues to receive rave reviews.  As Today show contributor Michele Borba said: "[Ellen Galinsky's] latest book... just put her in the 'Child Development Expert Hall of Fame.'  And Lisa Belkin of the New York Times said: "It may well be the next iconic parenting manual, up there with Spock and Leach and Brazelton, one that parents turn to for reassurance that all is more or less okay, reminders of how to make it better and glimpses of what's to come."
